Asda workers at its Wisbech store are set to strike during Easter weekend, one of the supermarket’s busiest times of the year, the GMB union has warned.
Roughly 170 staff members will walk out on 29 and 30 March in a 48 hour strike, the trade union said.
GMB claimed industrial action had been triggered by hour cuts and a rise in a bullying management culture.
It added that workers were also angry over “poor levels of training and support for their job roles, the equal pay claim dragging on for years, health, safety and fire safety issues being ignored and a lack of collective bargaining with GMB union”.

GMB regional organiser Keith Dixon said: “Asda Wisbech workers will strike during Easter weekend, one of the supermarket’s busiest weekends of the year.
“They face cuts to hours, non-existent training, toxic management and multiple health, safety and fire failings. Asda workers in Wisbech know it’s not good enough.”
An Asda spokesperson said: “Although we are disappointed by the GMB’s decision to proceed with this course of action, we will continue to engage with them and listen to their concerns. While any potential disruption to colleagues and customers is unwelcome, we have comprehensive plans in place to minimise any disruption in the event of industrial action.”
Wisbech will be Asda’s second store to face strike action, after a number of workers stage a walk out in its Gosport site last month.
GMB members at the Hampshire branch held strikes on 9 and 10 February over a working environment that they described as “toxic”.

Harrogate store is exactly the same. Lots of day colleagues are leaving and going off sick, a third of the night crew are off sick with bullying managers, toxic work environment and health and safety issues not addressed. It seems to be the whole country at this point…
Asda Westbrook will be next if things stay the same
Ever since the brothers took over Asda has become a swet shop for the managers and colleagues
The regional managers are to scared to say anything as they get sacked. The store managers are treated like second d class people. They expected to deliver with hundreds of less hours than they need to run the ships safely.
The colleagues are pushed as is they are some corner shop living and serving all day.
Asdas in Scotland are the same , bullying being ignored , standards are non existent at every level
